Who has me beat, and what did I miss?
Oil changes the right way with good intervals, measure your oil burn.
– 1000m first oil change (new car)
– 3000m to 5000m oil changes, no longer. DO NOT go 10,000m between changes
Air filter/Cabin Filter
Transmission Drain/Fill
Brake Fluid Flush
Power Steering Flush
Front diff/Rear diff/Transfer Case fluid drain and fill
Timing belt if it has one
Spark Plugs
– 40k Turbo cars
– 60k-100k NA cars
PCV Valve
Fuel Filter
Clean EGR/Throttle Body/Mass Air Flow
Clean valves if you have direct injection only
Injector cleaner
Set 30 day reminder to check oil
*Fuel Filter note: Many newer vehicles you will likely not change the fuel filter, this video was made as generic advice for people with older vehicles and newer vehicles, and mostly geared toward powertrain maintenance (why I left out simple things like tire rotations). Obviously, use common sense and don’t spend a fortune to replace fuel filters inside fuel tanks proactively on newer cars if they have not failed.
Im at 370,000 and never changed anything suspension wise and it’s riding real rough. Hopefully a few new shocks can give it new life.
Other than that the engine and tranny is solid. I’ve drain and filled that thing every 30k and oil every 5. It drives solid except for the suspension. That’s gonna cost me some money
Hi,
I have a question about oil changes. I have been driving my 2004 Chevy Colorado LS model 2.8 Liter 4 cylinder for 22 years. The oil is changed every 3,000 miles. At this point what oil should I be using?
Thanks
When you say check you oil every month, and it is low ? you didnt tell us what to do ? Do we just go ahead and top it off ???
